Community Advocacy Project & House of Peace

Giving shelter, building community.

Asian Women United Minnesota helps the community through our domestic violence shelter, and community activities.

House of Peace (HOP) domestic violence shelter.
House of Peace offers safe shelter for women and their children. Our rooms are private and pleasant, and the surroundings are supportive. It is a completely secure shelter, with around-the-clock security. While at our domestic violence shelter, women receive ongoing, confidential support and care to help them make the decision that’s right for them about next steps. When a victim leaves, AWUM continues to offer support, legal help, financial assistance and more.

Community Advocacy Program (CAP).
Our Community Advocacy Program includes violence prevention training and outreach.

• Safety planning
• Orders For Protection (OFP) & Harassment Restraining Orders (HRO)
• Support groups
• Financial, legal or employment advocacy
• Youth groups

We also hold educational events to raise understanding about domestic violence in the community, and offer volunteer opportunities and internships.
